So, even though I still consider myself new to all this blogginess and am a little unsure of the protocol, here goes... 7 things I love.
1. Travel. I love almost nothing as much as I love traveling to a different part of the globe and discovering parts of myself, parts of this world and parts of humanity I didn't know before.
(Namibia)
2. The beach. I grew up on the beach. It was beautiful and it holds a very special place in my heart, but, honestly, it was cold. Really cold. I prefer a warm beach I can frolic on and swim in for hours. I am terribly nonathletic, but I can be thrashed around in the waves, drink my weight in saltwater, almost drown, lose my bikini top to an incredibly strong undertow and still call it the best day ever.

3. Trips. I heart, heart, heart trips. Who doesn't? One of my all time favorite trips was to Los Angeles with one of my best friends in the world, Danny. We went to see a Madonna concert and stayed at The Standard in Hollywood. (Best. Hotel. Ever.) At one point, we stumbled into the hotel's hip diner and Danny turned to me and said very dramatically, "Kathy, I have to tell you something. This is serious. Calm down. Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake are sitting two booths down from us. Be cool." {I should add that only this man can call me Kathy and that I'm not sure I followed his instructions and acted cool.} Danny and I are from the same tiny town and that night, sitting two booths down from Cameron and Justin in Hollywood, we thought we had arrived... I'm happy just remembering that trip.
4. Pools. Maybe it's because I'm a Pisces, but I love the water. So many of my happiest childhood memories are playing in pools with my family and pretending to be a mermaid. (Come to think of it, my favorite memories from childhood involve trips and pools. Go figure why these two things made my list.) The smell of chlorine just makes me happy. This pool at The Golden Nugget in Las Vegas is the coolest thing I've ever seen and I can't wait to swim there.

5. Words. What can I say? I love words. I love reading a sentence that takes your breath away and leaves you reaching for a random piece of paper to jot it down. I love constructing a sentence that expresses what previously only lived in your heart.
Look at them. I know I'm biased, but - c'mon - they're a-freaking-dorable. Max told his mother that kids and adults were invited to his birthday party, but not cats and not dogs. He then said, "Well, maybe cats, but definitely not dogs." Jude... How do I say this tactfully? Um, I can't. He just seems, well, stoned. We call him Matthew McConaughey. He just seems like he'd always rather be shirtless on a beach with some bongos.
7. Family, friends and this guy. I love my family. I love my friends. I love this guy. There's not a whole lot more to say.
